Company // The history of Cube Storage
John Barwell has seen many changes in the moving, storage and transportation industries over the last few decades; he has seen people moving from large houses on quarter acre sections to smaller houses on smaller sections with fewer places to store belongings and household items, this has been a challenge for the home owner and has also led to the establishment of self storage services. He also witnessed the increasing use of shipping containers leading to a change from highly intensive handling of goods during freighting to virtually no handling at all.
Self storage services provide some solution for home owners but didn't seem to provide the ultimate answer, using them means too much handling, and with too much handling comes a dramatic increased risk of damaging goods and prized possessions.
John reasoned a solution lay in bringing the minimal handling, low damage of the 'load-store/transport-unload' shipping container to home owners and business people...
In 1999 John introduced onto the Auckland market Cube Mobile Storage. A system built around a robustly constructed small footprint plywood 'container' delivered to a home or business, then once loaded is collected and taken into a secure storage facility. As John says... "Cube is the self-storage that comes to your home or business."
The entire system, from the tilting truck concept through to manufacturing the containers is all done in house. This gives Cube Mobile Storage the opportunity to provide an exact solution to moving and storage. There are no corners cut or compromises made, just a system, tailor made to your needs.
Business is such that John is now franchising throughout New Zealand. This is a wonderful business opportunity for anyone with drive and ambition.
